"Brotherhood," calls for the abolition of special courts and the release political detainees in Syria

The New General Comptroller of the "Muslim Brotherhood Movement" Mohamed Shaqfa called in his speech to "France-Press Agency," the Syrian regime to "release all political detainees and opinion makers and defenders of human rights, with the return of displaced persons to their country."

West Bank - “SKeyes” - In the evening of Wednesday August 1st, 2010, the security intelligence forces arrested the reporter of “Jerusalem” space channel reporter in Bethlehem and the southern West Bank Mamdouh Hamamerah. 

The continued arrest of the Syrian journalist Firass Saad despite of the termination of his sentence

The Syrian attorney Sireen Al-Khouri was surprised for the continued arrest of her defendant the journalist Firass Saad despite of the termination of his sentence. She said, “The journalist Firass Saad was arrested on July 17, 2007 where he was sentenced on April 1st, 2008 for spreading false news. His sentence finalized on the passing August 1st, yet he is still under custody so far. There is some news about the possibility of releasing him after Eid Al-Fotur, yet nothing is confirmed yet”.  

The Palestinian security intelligence forces assault “Al-Haq” foundation’s employees and confiscate the foundation’s camera

Ramallah - “SKeyes” - The Palestinian security intelligence agents attacked two employees of “Al-Haq” foundation and confiscate the foundation’s camera, while the employees documented the intelligence services’ violations. The latter were trying to prohibit assembling a political meeting at was organized by a number of political forces, independent political figures, and social community organizations, at the “Protestante” at Ramallah city last Wednesday August 25. 

The journalist Aatta Ouaissat was inspected in a degrading way at the President Shimon Peres’ house entrance

Jerusalem - “SKeyes” - The journalist cameraman of “Yediot Aharonot” newspaper Aatta Ouaissat on the evening of Tuesday August 31st was inspected in a humiliating way when he was trying to get into the Israeli president Shimon Peres to shoot the Israeli Minister of Education’s meeting with a number of Arab and Jewish students for resuming the new academic year. The guards commanded him to put his clothes and shoes off before accessing, on the pretext of issuance of new acts by the Israeli security services. He stayed for few minutes wearing his underwear only in front of the guards that inspected him carefully where he felt severely ashamed and humiliated. 

Calls to close the "Pain File" in Syria on the occasion of the World Day of the Disappeared

Syrians jurists expressed on the occasion of the World Day of the Disappeared, which marks the thirtieth of August, their hope to "close the pain file" in Syria, pointing out that about twenty thousand missing in Syria are still unaccounted since the bloody events in the country thirty years ago.  

Mother of Tal Malouhi sends appeals to the Syrian President to release her daughter

"The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights" announced that the mother of the Syrian girl Tal Malouhi (19 years) who has an electronic blog, appealed to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to intervene to release of her daughter who has been detained since December 27/ 2009.  

Supreme State Security Court in Damascus interrogated political activists.

Syrian human rights organizations knew that the Supreme State Security Court in Damascus (special court) interrogated with political activists on 31/08/2010. And they are: Abbas Abbas, Ahmed Alinihawi, Ghassan Hassan and Tawfiq Omran on charges of "belonging to a secret association aimed at changing the State's political and social structure" in accordance with the Article 306 of the Penal Code.

The third Military judge in Aleppo decided on Wednesday, 01/09/2010 to approve the request for the release of Abdel-Hafiz Abdul Rahman, Member of the Board of Trustees of the "Human Rights Organization in Syria" (MAF).
