The Syrian attorney Sireen Al-Khouri was surprised for the continued arrest of her defendant the journalist Firass Saad despite of the termination of his sentence. She said, “The journalist Firass Saad was arrested on July 17, 2007 where he was sentenced on April 1st, 2008 for spreading false news. His sentence finalized on the passing August 1st, yet he is still under custody so far. There is some news about the possibility of releasing him after Eid Al-Fotur, yet nothing is confirmed yet”.

The Palestinian security intelligence agents attacked two employees of “Al-Haq” foundation and confiscate the foundation’s camera, while the employees documented the intelligence services’ violations. The latter were trying to prohibit assembling a political meeting at was organized by a number of political forces, independent political figures, and social community organizations, at the “Protestante” at Ramallah city last Wednesday August 25.

The journalist cameraman of “Yediot Aharonot” newspaper Aatta Ouaissat on the evening of Tuesday August 31st was inspected in a humiliating way when he was trying to get into the Israeli president Shimon Peres to shoot the Israeli Minister of Education’s meeting with a number of Arab and Jewish students for resuming the new academic year. The guards commanded him to put his clothes and shoes off before accessing, on the pretext of issuance of new acts by the Israeli security services. He stayed for few minutes wearing his underwear only in front of the guards that inspected him carefully where he felt severely ashamed and humiliated.

Syrians jurists expressed on the occasion of the World Day of the Disappeared, which marks the thirtieth of August, their hope to "close the pain file" in Syria, pointing out that about twenty thousand missing in Syria are still unaccounted since the bloody events in the country thirty years ago.

Syrian human rights organizations knew that the Supreme State Security Court in Damascus (special court) interrogated with political activists on 31/08/2010. And they are: Abbas Abbas, Ahmed Alinihawi, Ghassan Hassan and Tawfiq Omran on charges of "belonging to a secret association aimed at changing the State's political and social structure" in accordance with the Article 306 of the Penal Code.
